Jeij!

In the beginning of the week we went to New generation contact point to Korzó. There we had a nice conversation with Attila and Gábor. We decided that we will make a presentation about Finland for youngsters March 11th. We also make Finland -poster for Community House and maybe bring some salmiakki for visitors. ;) You can see the poster February 26th at Community House!

On Tuesday Imre told us about meaning of international projects. It is really important to continue this projects because they get a lot of new information and different kind of experiences. We feel like that we are a part of this international work and we are happy for that! :)

Wednesday was a really excited day because at the same time we prepared our Finland poster there was an ice hockey game Finland vs. Russia but thankfully Finnish players were so good that we won 3-1. Jeij! :D

Erzsébet and Attila told us on Thursday about family care services and her groups where she works at. These goups are for the whole family if there are any problems they want to solve, for example if there is an alcohol problem. They can discuss with other people in the group and share their feelings and thoughts. They also do different kind of activities together like watching a movie or cook something.

Friday the presentation day! We told our colleagues about Finnish social security system and everything went great. After that we discussed about Hungarian social system, what is similiar and what is different. The next topic will be Finnish school system and culture.

We are trying to look like professionals

Here is our audience. :)

Our weekend was JEIJ! (It was great) We went to Debrecen for whole weekend to celebrate Merja's birthday a little bit earlier than the exact day. We stayed at Korona panzió and it was good. The only bad thing was the traffic, it was quite noisy. On Saturday it rained the whole day so we couldn't visit so many places. We went to Forum and bought things (like a pretty wallet and cool sunglasses :)). On Sunday we tasted KFC for the first time ever. It wasn't so special we thought it would be but it was tasty. Be prepared to have a lot of paper with you when eating, it was messy. :D

We are not so far from home! :)

We went to see Debrecen's night life both days and we met some weird people there. One guy asked if his girlfriend has a nice ass and we were like excuse me :D On Saturday we got VIP tickets at the same price as normal ones to a club because they heard us speaking English and asked where are we from and after we said Finland we got these tickets. And now we are at home and really tired, especially Juulia because she didn't stop partying even in her dreams. Hopefully the next night for her will be more peaceful. :D

Papparapuppi

Yay, we learned a new word! But we have no idea what does it mean. Attila told us that it sounds like Finnish but can't regognize it. :D

Last weekend was a little different from the others because Merja stayed at Nyíregyháza and Juulia went to Budapest to see her boyfriend(♥). Merja visited at zoo with Ukrainian people and got in for free (don't know how?!). Juulia walked way too much on that weekend. Her calves were sore but it was worth it! She visited Buda Castle, Parlament house and National museum. The trip was really exciting because she has never been in Budapest so there was a lot of things to see.

Back to Nyíregyháza and work. We got a new information about application writing and internation projects. On Wednesday we got to play guitar at Community House, because there was a guitar lesson is that day. And then Merja saw a lot of cats and she went crazy! :) She misses her cats in Finland. Do anybody own a cat here? Just call to Merja and make her happy!

Friday was a really interesting and exciting. On afternoon we visited Mustárház to see new volunteers and the radio station. That place looked really cool! Old cameras and furnitures everywhere. In the evening András took as we don't know where but it was dark and there was a really muddy roads! :s We almost got stucked but András showed his skills and saved us! Yay! :) That was a Metro Programme where we got free food and shared them to the families.

On Saturday we went out with our colleagues and played billiard and drank some beer. And we visited also Attila's birthday party. :) Then we went to X-cafe to see Paddy and the Rats or something like that. They played Irish folk music, it was fun! There was a lot of people and it felt like sauna.

Now the weather looks so pretty that we have to go outside and enjoy the sun! :)

Introduction and our first week

Hello all!

We are two Finnish exchange students from Oulu, Juulia and Merja. We are studying social services in Oulu University of Applied Sciencies and we will be Bachelors of Social Services. We came here in the beginning of January but this has been our first week at Human-net foundation. We decided to come to Hungary because we thought it would be interesting to see an unknown place. We didn't know anything about Hungary before we came here so this is an adventure. :)

Juulia and Merja

Our first week went really fast. We got a lot of information about Human-net and different kind of projects. It was good to have this Friday to work at home because there's so much to handle in our minds. On Monday we started at Human-net at 9 am and we participated in a morning meeting and got to introduce ourselves. Next day Juulia was unfortunately sick and stayed at home and Merja went to an interview for a local magazine Kelet (oh my god it was so scary!). On Wednesday we got information about debt management at Human-net and after that we had some nice chatting with our colleagues. On Thursday we participated in a course with other social workers at Community House. We got to use our artistic skills because we had to explain what community means to us and how does it work.

Just chatting

We will write on this blog about our work and free time. Please be merciful to us because this is our first time writing a blog. :)

Have a nice weekend readers!
